HFCs are the most common group of fluorinated gases. They are used in various sectors and applications, such as refrigerants in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, heat pumps, expanding agents for foams, fire extinguishing agents in fire suppression systems, propellants for aerosols, and solvents. Fluorinated gases extinguish fires by absorbing heat from the flame.

They are considered clean fire suppression systems because they ensure the safety of both humans and the environment. They are non-toxic and do not deplete the oxygen present in the environment where they are deployed, ensuring proper breathing even in the presence of a large number of people. Additionally, they have a very low impact on the greenhouse effect and do not contribute to ozone depletion.
